Rest and Reevaluation (Blog No. 6)

Rest and Reevaluation (Blog No. 6)

Q: So, why am I taking a break from social media?

A: Because my own creative path is crying out for a bit of quiet time and attention and it feels right to make this a priority.

I want to concentrate on making visual art that excites me and this involves a lot of both intensity and meandering. I have been finding that making regular posts for Instagram / Facebook interrupts that state of ‘flow’. Much of the experimental phases really don’t need sharing - they just need a bit of persistence. Stopping to make posts hasn’t been helping the process.

I understand social media can be useful, even as a sort of visual journal, but right now it just isn’t. I suspect I am not alone.

Instead I am using the time in between collaborative projects and deadlines to revise and realign my own visual direction and taking time to interact with the local art scene, that feels more like progress to me. It's exciting. All a bit analogue!

I will continue to update this website and I am always really happy to receive emails and enquiries.

Happy September Equinox everyone.
